Maria Hämäläinen is a Finnish pianist and pedagogue.
Her performances have been described as follows: "elegant", "refined" (Helsingin Sanomat), and "mastered" (Hufvudstadsbladet).

She has studied and took part at masterclasses with the finest classical musicians and artists of our times such as Ivry Gitlis, Robert Levin, Joanna MacGregor, Noriko Ogawa, Anna Kuvaja, Jon Storgårds, Tomas Djupsjöbacka, Ralf Gothoni, Marko Ylönen, Ilja Scheps and Erik T. Tawaststjerna. In 2020 Maria graduated from Prof. Hamsa Al-Wadi Juris' piano class at Sibelius-Academy and holds the master degree in classical piano performance from University of Arts Helsinki.

Hämäläinen is performing around Europe presenting exquisite solo and chamber music repertoire, appearing at venues such as the Steinway Hall in London, the concert hall of Helsinki Music Centre, the Hall of State of the Presidential Palace of Finland, the Bank of Finland, Art Museum Ateneum in Helsinki, İş Sanat concert hall in Istanbul and Curci Theatre in Italy.

She has participated at international music festivals including PianoEspoo Festival, Mänttä Music Festival, KesäVirrat Soi Festival, Varkaus SummerClassical in Finland, Musica Mundi in Brussels, and Dartington Summer School in England.

As a concerto soloist Maria has appeared with orchestras such as Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Toruń Symphony Orchestra and NRW Orchesterzentrum Chamber Orchestra under the batons of conductors including Jun Märkl, Anna Duczmal-Mróz, Alexander Hülshoff, and Przemysław Fiugajski.

Hämäläinen has been awarded at ClaviCologne International Piano Competition in Germany, Piano Campus in France, EPTA Piano Competition in Belgium, London PianoMasters in Great Britain, Young Musician Competition "Città di Barletta" in Italy, Finnish National Leevi Madetoja Competition, Sibelius-Academy Helmi Vesa Piano Competition, Erkki Melartin National Chamber Music Competition in Finland, and Savshinsky International Music Competition in Russia.

Hämäläinen is recipient of honours including the award from Helsinki Rotary Club and Marita Viitasalo Fellowship by Zonta Club of Helsinki I.

Being an advocate for sustainable classical piano performance and pedagogy, and their various elements Maria has studied and completed the pedagogical studies for teachers at University of Arts Helsinki. In her master thesis published in 2020 by Sibelius-Academy's Library Hämäläinen researched the phenomenon of musical literacy and its connection to the basics of piano playing offering the classical piano and music pedagogy society a new conceptual model designated as circumference of musical literacy.
Nowdays Maria Hämäläinen maintains an active classical piano music atelier in Istanbul, and teaches with various European curricula such as Cambridge International Curriculum and London College of Music Curriculum.
