Trio Fermo

Trio Fermo is a Finnish piano trio that has been active since 2014 and has won both national and international awards. In February 2016, Trio Fermo won the first prize at the 6th National Erkki Melartin Chamber Music Competition, as well as a special award for the best performance of a composition by Erkki Melartin.

In January 2017, the trio won first prize at the 8th Savshinsky International Music Competition in St. Petersburg. Their competitive success continued in March 2017 with another first prize at the 11th National Juvenalia Chamber Music Competition.

Trio Fermo is coached by cellist-conductor Tomas Djupsjöbacka (Meta4) at the Sibelius Academy. The trio's development has also been significantly influenced by their first coach, chamber music instructor Paavo Pohjola at the Sibelius Academy, as well as legendary violinist Ivry Gitlis and violinist-conductor John Storgårds.
